National Sport Campus IIS High Performance Training Centre The extension to a public building (3057m²) consisted of indoor training facilities for boxing and athletics (including full length 100m sprint track and long jump / triple jump) and also contained changing rooms, medical rooms, offices, cooking demonstration kitchens etc. External works included a new car park, footpaths, pedestrian footbridge to link into adjacent building, attenuation pond, external shot put throwing facility and medicine ball throw area. The extension was constructed with a steel frame structure, precast concrete panel external walls and composite roof panels. DFK was a member of a multi-disciplinary team with specific responsibility for civil and structural engineering design (also acted as Assigned Certifier & PSDP) on the new build element of works. The project was approached in a collaborative manner and close liaison between Doherty Finegan Kelly, the design team and the client was maintained throughout the design and construction period.
